Discover on AZ Flag the genderqueer and non-binary flags to celebrate the various sexual identities that form part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Find in this category the different flags made of polyester of 45 x 30 cm or 150 x 90 cm as well as the table flag of 21 x 14 cm.

Non-binarity has nothing to do with an individual's sexual identity or who they are sexually attracted to, but rather with their gender identity regardless of their biological gender. Non-binary people do not identify as male or female regardless of the biological sex they have, but rather self-identify as a mixture of both masculine and feminine sexes and neither.

Genderqueer people, however, may also be trans-identified and identify as transsexuals or transgender people or simply gender-nonconforming. The term queer, once used as an insult, means 'weird' in English so the term genderqueer is used to define a gender that is 'non-conforming' to the system, a 'weird' gender.

The International Day of Remembrance for people with non-binary identities is 14 July.

The non-binary flag: the creation of a combination of pride.

The non-binary flag expressing the diversity of gender orientations and minorities of the queer community, such as people of both sexes, is the activist emblem for the fight against discrimination and harassment against people of this community, enbyphobia and transphobia. The flag was created in 2014 by Kye Rowan and the four colours of the flag each have a distinct identity:

  • Yellow represents the gender that is not associated with binarity. Being a colour that is not composed of blue or pink (the colours associated with male and female genders), yellow therefore represents independence from binarity.
  •  White, a mixture of all the colours, represents polygender people or people belonging to several genders despite the person's sex.
  • Purple represents people of the gender that is in the middle of that of the man and the woman (the mixture of blue and pink)
  • Black represents one that identifies as genderless (agender/gender neutral) because black is an absence of light.

Before the non-binary flag was created, there was the genderqueer flag created by Marilyn Roxie in 2011. This flag is composed of three colours:

  • Lavender purple represents androgynous people
  • White is symbolic of the gender of the people who are agender.
  • Green is used to define the gender identities that go beyond binary gender boundaries without referring to the stereotypes frequently used in society such as men and women.
