The least we can say is that the department 29, with its exceptional scenery, is certainly not lacking in charming assets: a sublime coastline lined with fine sandy beaches, a very rich cultural heritage, its stretches of wild nature, its legendary cliffs and lighthouses and unmissable seaside resorts like Bénodet ; And the absolute must when visiting Finistère: tasting good galettes and crepes, the standard bearer of Breton know-how. The flag of Finistère: a witness to the history of the department 29

The flag of Finistère has many elements reminiscent of the famous white and black Breton flag designed by Morvan Marchal, in particular the herringbone speck. The banner of the department 29 includes all the elements of the coat of arms of Finistère. This emblem is divided into 3 distinct parts;

- 5 black ermine spots on a white background are distributed at the top of the flag.

- The lower part is divided into two parts; a ram on a blue background and a lion on a gold background. These two elements symbolize the two components of the department 19, the lion represents Léon and the ram Cornouailles which were two bishoprics.

In heraldry, this flag is said to have a chief argent charged with five ermine spots opposite and to have a part or with a lion bitten and contourned sable, and azure with a ram salient argent unguled and accorned or, the two animals facing each other.
