The Languedoc-Roussilon flag consists of a red background, a golden cross and a quarter circle with red and gold stripes. This flag is based on both symbols the Cross of Languedoc (the Occitan Cross) and the Flag of Roussillon (based on the Senyera, the Catalan Flag, formerly the Crown of Aragon coat of arms). This flag is one of the symbols of the Languedoc-Roussillon, a former administrative region of France, located in the south of France bordering Spain. Since the territorial reform of 2016, Languedoc Roussillon has merged with the former region Midi-Pyrénées to form Occitanie.
