Welcome to our Poitou-Charentes flags range. Poitou-Charentes region has two flags. The main Poitou-Charentes flag is composed of two horizontal white and black stripes with a red lion in the centre (the white stripe represents the Haut-Poitou, the black stripe represents the Bas-Poitou, the red lion was the emblem of the Poitevins in the Middle Ages). The other historical Poitou-Charentes flag is composed of 5 golden castles on a red background, it is less popular than the first one. The Poitou Flag (the one with the poitevin lion) is the most popular symbol of the Poitou-Charentes former administrative region, located on the west coast of France. Since the territorial reform of 2016, Poitou-Charentes has merged with Aquitaine and Limousin to form the new Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, which is nowadays the largest region of France.
