The State of North Dakota

North Dakota is a Midwestern state, bordered on the west by Montana, on the east by Minnesota, on the north by the provinces of Canada and on the south by South Dakota. Some of America's greatest adventurers, including Lewis and Clark, Sakakawea and President Theodore Roosevelt, left their footprints in this sparsely populated state. Traveling from the vast Theodore Roosevelt National Park in the west to the attractive Fargo in the east, visitors will be dazzled by starry skies and vistas that stretch for miles, and lulled by the whistling of the wind. More than a century ago, Roosevelt called this land on the edge of the plains "a world of beauty, color and limitless space." It still is.

The official state flag of North Dakota – the meaning

The current flag was adopted on March 3, 1911. It is a rectangular flag with a navy blue background and in the center of the flag is its coat of arms; an eagle spreading its wings. The eagle in question is an official emblem of America and this emblem is found on the flag of Dakota. It holds a red band between its beak with the inscription "E Pluribus Unum". Above the band are thirteen stars that line up in an arc. In one leg of the eagle is a branch and in the other are arrows. Below the eagle is a red ribbon with a gold edge that reads "North Dakota". The flag is a carbon copy of the banner worn by the state's contingent troops during the Philippine-American War.
