The 45-star United States flag was adopted following the state of Utah's accession to the American Federal Union. This 45-star American pavilion was in effect from 1896 to 1908 in the United States.

Indeed, one of the particularities of the flag of the United States, the famous starred banner, is that it has been given an additional star throughout its history with each accession of a new Member State to the Union.

Today, the official US flag is decorated with 50 stars representing the 50 current US states.

Discover the entire historical evolution of the American flag from its beginnings with the 13-star flag of the 13 founding states to its final 50-star shape in effect since 1960 in our section dedicated to American historical flags!
