Do you know the flag of the Arapahos? The Arapahos are a Native American tribe that lived on the plains of Colorado and eastern Wyoming at the time of European colonization. The Arapahos were divided into northern and southern Arapahos. Today, this Native American tribe (descended from the Northern Arapahos) lives on the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming. The Northern Arapaho flag was created in 1936 as a sign of respect for Arapaho veterans. The Arapaho flag has 3 colors: red for the people, black for happiness, white for life and knowledge. The seven horizontal stripes each represent one of the seven medicines of life. The white triangle would indicate the way to start a prayer, while the red, black and white circle that adorns this white triangle on the staff side would symbolize the world. Its three colours would refer to the heart, the human being and the Great Creative Spirit.
