The flag of Equatorial Guinea on sale on AZ Flag: to discover urgently!

The Equatorial Guinea flag consists of three horizontal bands of green, white and red with the national coat of arms in the middle of the white band with a blue triangle on the left side (mast side).   It is one of the symbols of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, a country in Central Africa and one of the smallest countries in Africa in terms of area. It was adopted on the occasion of the country's independence from Spain on 12th October 1968.

On the coat of arms of Equatorial Guinea, we can see a kapok tree (also called a cheese maker) affixed to a grey background surmounted by six small yellow stars. The national motto "Unidad, Paz, Justicia" (Unity, Peace, Justice) adorns this coat of arms at the bottom.

The kapok tree (kapok tree, cheese maker, cotton wood) is the traditional tree of the country and it is used for its vegetable fibres, its wood, in medicinal or food use.

The six yellow stars represent the territory of Equatorial Guinea: the mainland  as well as the 5 islands (including Bioko and Annobon).

The four colours have precise meanings relating to the history, values and geography of the Equatorial Guinea. The blue triangle to symbolize the Atlantic Ocean, red for the blood shed for Independence, white for peace and green for the country's many tropical forests (biodiversity hotspot).
