Before you buy your favorite Swazi flag model, discover everything behind its colours and emblem!

The Swazi flag consists of five horizontal stripes of blue, yellow and red, and a Zulu shield in the centre. It is part of the symbols of the Kingdom of Swaziland, a country in southern Africa, with the Swaziland coat of arms, the national motto "Siyinqaba" (We are a fortress), the national anthem "Nkulunkulu Mnikati wetibusiso temaswati" and the Thomson gazelle, the country's emblematic animal.

This state and war flag was adopted on 30th October 1967, one year before the independence of the United Kingdom in 1968.

The five horizontal coloured stripes consist of blue stripes that correspond to the stability and peace of the country, two yellow stripes that refer to human resources and agriculture in Swaziland and a larger central red stripe that tells the story of the struggles for the country's independence.

The Zulu shield refers to the similarity and ethnic alliance between the Zulus and Swazis. To help us understand the symbolic and prestigious importance of the Zulu shield, history tells us that King Sobhuza II, Swazi king who ruled Swaziland for 60 years, gave a Zulu shield to the Swazi army corps that joined the British army during World War II. The shield is completely covered with a black and white cow skin that embodies peace between white and black peoples and races. Behind the skin can be seen a Zulu stick with blue feathers and two darts: these two elements evoke the power and defence of the country against its enemies.
