Among all flags, the flag of Turkey, formerly known as Anatolia or Asia Minor, consists of a red background on which is affixed a crescent moon and a white five-pointed star. The flag is often called al bayrak (the red flag), and is referred to as al sancak (the red banner) in the Turkish national anthem. The Ay flag yıldız (star and crescent) is a symbol of the Republic of Turkey, a transcontinental country in the Middle East located between Europe and Asia, on the ancient Silk Trade Route, today the world's economic trading hub due to its strategic geographical position. The Turkish flag, adopted in 1844, is both a national flag and a national maritime flag. The flag of Turkey resembles the historical flag of the Ottoman Empire.

Sale of the Turkish flag: The historical origins of the red flag "moon and star" white

The crescent moon and star symbol on the Turkish flag are an emblem of Islam. However, their origins go back to the Babylonian history and that of Ancient Egypt. In the Asian Minor Peninsula, they were long used as symbols of some Turks in periods prior to the arrival of Islam. It was in 1936, after the total dissolution of the Ottoman Empire, following the First World War and the Turkish War of Independence, that the new Republic of Turkey reappropriated the Ottoman flag and changed its proportions. Its measures and colours are determined by the Turkish flag law of 1936 and in fact the history of the origin of the Turkey flag is so obscure that several theories and legends are told about it. According to one of the most recounted legends, the Turkish flag represents the reflection of a moon and a star in a pool of blood of Turkish warriors, a figuration of the defeat of the Byzantine army at the Battle of Manzikert in 1071.
